Specialist Practice Nurse – Breast and Wound Management

Darling Downs Surgical Oncology (DDSO) is expanding, and we’re looking for a warm, skilled, and patient-centred Specialist Practice Nurse to join our growing subspecialist surgical practice. This casual or part-time role is ideal for an experienced nurse with an interest in breast cancer care, melanoma, skin cancer, post-operative support, and wound management.

As a boutique, specialist-led clinic, we pride ourselves on personalised care, clinical excellence, and creating a calm, supportive environment for our patients and their families.

This position will support the growth of our breast, melanoma and skin services and provide hands-on clinical care within our purpose-built minor procedure room.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting patients through their breast cancer journey, including education and post-operative guidance
• Wound assessment, dressings, and ongoing wound care management
• Assisting with minor procedures and clinical coordination
• Preparing patients for consultations and follow-up
• Maintaining a warm, organised, patient-focused practice environment
• Assisting with clinical workflows as the practice continues to grow

We’re looking for someone who is:

• An experienced Registered Nurse (AHPRA-registered)
• Confident in wound care and post-operative management
• Compassionate, calm, and patient-focused
• Interested in breast care, skin cancer, and surgical oncology
• Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team
• Professional, organised, and attentive to detail

Experience in breast care, surgical nursing, or specialist practice nursing is highly valued, but we welcome nurses passionate about compassionate cancer care who are eager to learn.
